PROCESS

Double page spread from one of my sketchbooks.

How these prints are made.
To create these prints, a doodle is selected from my sketchbook. It is then photographed so I can size and transfer the image to the linoleum plate. The image is now ready to be carved. The carving process entails removing the negative space from around the image.

Once the carving is completed, the plate is ready for ink. A brayer is used to spread and coat the plate with oil based printmaking inks. The inked block is placed on the bed of the etching press. The inked plate is covered with a piece of hand torn archival paper and rolled through the press.
Voila’ we have a wonderful print!
